Aldo "Bliss Boy" Perez
/
Aldo was a genre-busting San Francisco musical treasure, roaming the streets with a romantic voice, quick wit, impish grin and a crack band. He could shred on guitar and flute, wrote tear-jerker ballads, and is one of the best performers I've ever seen. Unheralded - yes - but isn't that always the way?

Captured here is one of his typically eclectic sets. He starts the set on a beat-up stage piano before moving over to electric guitar. His band this night went by the name Rumpled Foreskin.

Aldo was only in town for a few years. Around 1990 he moved to NYC, where he continues to perform today. Check him out if you're in Manhattan, either as Renaldo The or Jazz Bastards.
